The text
•The King James Bible (KJB) — Pure Cambridge Edition, the text used throughout this app for reading, searching, sharing, and exporting.
•Our master text file is generated directly from our authoritative Pure Cambridge Edition source document, kindly made available by bibleprotector.com.
•It is then verified word-for-word and verse-by-verse against an independent Pure Cambridge Edition reference.
•All 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and 31,102 verses are included in full, with nothing abridged, paraphrased, or reworded.
•Italics, paragraph marks, and small-caps LORD and GOD are preserved exactly as printed.
•The KJB text is public domain worldwide, with one regional exception:
–In the United Kingdom, it is protected by a perpetual Crown Copyright administered by the King's Printer.
–For commercial use within the UK, a licence from Cambridge University Press or the King's Printer may be required.
•This app is provided for personal, non-commercial reading and study only, and is never to be sold or licensed for resale.
Typography
Reading & Interface
Merriweather
the Serif reading option — the default scripture font, styled after a printed Bible for long, comfortable reading
Inter
the Sans Serif reading option, and the font used across the whole app interface — menus, buttons and labels
Mono & Times New Roman
two more reading options that use your device's own built-in fonts, so nothing extra is downloaded
Handwritten & Decorative
Dancing Script
the Cursive reading option — a flowing handwritten style for the scripture text, with italic words set in a lighter shade
Comic Neue
used for the Comic Sans reading option when your device doesn't have Comic Sans
Merriweather, Inter, Dancing Script and Comic Neue are Google Fonts, released under the SIL Open Font License.
Accessibility
Atkinson Hyperlegible
designed by the Braille Institute of America for readers with low vision. SIL Open Font License.
OpenDyslexic
designed by Abbie Gonzalez to increase readability for readers with dyslexia. SIL Open Font License.
In the Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store) apps, these fonts are bundled with the app itself so they're available offline from first launch, instead of being downloaded from Google Fonts.
How it's made
•Base44 — the web app platform — hosting, backend, and optional user authentication.
•Capacitor — open source (MIT License) — wraps the web app into the native Android and iOS apps.
•Gradle + Android SDK — compile and sign the Android app.
•Google Play Console — distributes the Android app on Google Play.
•Xcode + WebKit (WKWebView) — Apple's tools — compile, sign, and render the iOS app.
•App Store Connect — distributes the iOS app on the App Store.
•Lucide — open source (ISC License) — the interface icons.
•LibreOffice hyphenation patterns — open source (LGPL/MPL) — break points for long words in the two-column printed layout; they derive from Franklin Liang's algorithm created for Donald Knuth's TeX typesetting system.
•Special thanks — to Elvish Ishaan for fixing bugs and issues.
